Michael grew up in the business. At the ripe old age of 10 he was already assisting with the planting and watering of crops. After high school Michael attended the University of Connecticut and received a degree in Horticulture. Upon graduation he took a more active role in the family business. In 2007 Michael became sole owner of Michael's Greenhouses. Michael lives on the farm with his wife Aili and his two sons Michael and Nicholas. |

Linda Lano |
Linda came to work in the office at Michael's Greenhouses 13½ years ago. She is in charge of administrative responsibilities such as payroll, billing, answering the telephone, taking orders, etc. She is always willing to answer any questions that customers may have. |

Pat joined Michaels
Greenhouses in the spring of 2009. Pat has been in the Superrnarket Industry for the past 36 years, and brings with her a diverse knowledge of plants from a buyers perspective. We welcome Pat's vast knowledge of Plants, and and she certainly has a pulse on the trends and where the market is heading. |

Kate Dougherty |
Kate started her adventures at Michael's Greenhouses in the spring of 2002. She came to Michaels with over 10 years of sales experience in the retail industry. She is on the road calling on our current customers, offering merchandising advice and keeping them on top of our current availability. Kate is always looking to take on new customers, and is more than willing to tailor a program to suit your needs. Roger McGaughey
(Annuals) |
Roger was born and educated in Northern Ireland and earned a Bachelor of Horticultural Science Degree at Reading University, England, in 1970. After two years of practical experience in Northern Ireland , West Germany, and the USA he worked in a large house plant company in Spalding, England. Following their decision to close he emigrated to America in 1987. After employment in Pennsylvania and Michigan he settled in Connecticut and has been with Michaels Greenhouses for 4½ years. Overall Roger has 34 years growing experience! Roger's focus at Michaels Greenhouses has been to produce crops with a healthy white root system to meet timely market demands. This year Roger has started using Biological Control Agents (BCA's) with the goal of eliminating chemical pesticides. This practice allows Michaels Greenhouse customers to receive the "greenest" possible crop available. Roger is currently a writer for "Grower Talks" Magazine, contributing three articles annually. Zoltan
Kovacs (Perennials) |
Zoltan was born in In 2003 Zoltan left retail to be a grower/program manager at Sunny Border. Within 4 years he was vice-president in charge of operations and in 2008 he won Grower Talks' Young Grower Award. Zoltan joined the team at Michaels Greenhouses in the fall of 2008 to plan and institute the perennial program. |

Ron
Humiston |
Ron, who is in his third year with Michael's Greenhouses, is our Operations Manager and has a long family history in the industry. His background includes diverse experience in many different areas of production and construction. Ron has incorporated the concepts of lean manufacturing and efficiencies into his philosophy of operations, allowing Michael's Greenhouses (and our customers) to enjoy growth and success. He excels in the facilitation of "problem solving" within the Michael's team and in the development of new concepts. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, camping, and cooking. |
