Plants and Products Available at Michael's Greenhouses

	For the past 40 years, Michael's Greenhouses have been growing a wide variety of high quality bedding plants, including annual flowers, ground covers, accent plants, and vegetables. We have also offered seasonal product lines such as Easter bulbs, fall mums, and poinsettias at Christmas. This year we are proud to introduce perennials to our already extensive product line. Be sure to check out the biography of our new award winning perennial grower Zoltan Kovacs. With a wide assortment of flat and pot sizes available we feel confident that we can supply you with the best quality "locally grown" product for your needs, whatever they may be. Check back often for availability. This year, Michael's Greenhouses continues on its quest to become one of the "greenest" and most environmentally friendly greenhouses in Connecticut. We offer "green" alternative pots in rice and straw and have joined with East Jordan Plastics to recycle our old plastic flats and pots. Our annual grower Roger McGaughey has launched an extensive pest control program using Biological Control Agents (BCA's) instead of pesticides.

	Annuals: Vegetables and Herbs
	The increase in the demand for "locally grown" produce in Connecticut over the last few years has just been phenomenal. Visit just about any small town in Connecticut on any weekend in the spring and summer and the local farmer's market is teaming with people. We believe that the sky is the limit for growth in this area, and the vegetable and herb product line this year reflects that conviction, with a wide variety of pot sizes and varieties available.

	Annuals: Ground Cover/Accent Plants
	We have beautiful, fast growing ground covers and accent plants to compliment any yard or garden. They are available in both 1/2 flats and 4" pots. Groundcover plants, when properly taken care of, provide dense soil cover, retard weed growth, and prevent soil erosion. Groundcovers provide a unifying component to landscapes and can be used as hedging material, as a visual guide to an entry, or as a traffic barrier. Groundcovers help to define space. A low groundcover can provide a transition between the lawn and taller plants used in beds. Attractive foliage, colorful flowers, and, at times attractive fruit can add color and texture to an otherwise "green" landscape.

	Perennials:
	This year Michael's Greenhouse is proud to introduce perennials into our product line. Our perennials, which consist of a mixture of trusted classics as well as new and trendy cultivars, are all selected for the best performance possible. We use a combination of greenhouse and outside production in order to achieve presentable product all year round. We offer these plants in quart, gallon, 2 gallon, and 3 gallon containers. The size of the pot used is based upon the needs of the plant.
